Empire Son tops the British Blue Sale in Carlisle
It was the reserve intermediate male champion Tamhorn Crackerjack ET, an August, 2007 ET son of Empire D’Ochain and the show winning dam Annanwater Vine that topped the sale at 16,000gns stg. for Danny & Jane Wyllie of the renowned Tamhorn herd, Pessall Farm, Edingale, Nr. Tamworth, Staffs. The final bid for the herd’s first Empire son, a blue and white sale topper came from H Harvey & Son, Waxham Hall, Sea Palling, Norwich, Norfolk to join their Waxham herd
The first crop of Empire’s certainly made the headlines at Carlisle with Greystone Cannon, a July 2007 son of Empire D’Ochain (IS) and out of Hazeldown Mystic Queen selling for 11,000 gns stg. consigned by the Coates Family, Rainscar Farm, Stainforth, Settle. This first prize winning bull was knocked down to Pedigree breeders’ GG Jenkins & Son, Nantyclun, Brynberian, Crymych, Dyffed.
Another Empire D’Ochain bred son, Brookfield Columbus ET from regular consignors to Carlisle, Stephen Potter’s Brookfield stable, Westside, Topcliffe, Thirsk sold for 10,000gns stg. Columbus ET, a 20 month old dark blue bull is out of the RASE Supreme Champion 2003 Brookfield Rhanne.
